What is the Best Paper Award?
To recognize the outstanding research being submitted to the Members Research Archive, ESSD is proud to introduce the Best Paper Award. Each quarter, selected ESSD board members will review submissions to identify the most exceptional research contributions.
What do winners receive?
The award-winning paper will earn its author(s) free registration to the prestigious ESSD Annual Congress, a highly sought-after opportunity for members to engage with the latest developments in dysphagia research and care.
How to participate?
Only ESSD members are eligible to submit their research papers to the MRA, and the best papers will be evaluated quarterly. Make sure to contribute your research to this valuable repository and increase your chances of winning this exciting recognition!

How to submit your manuscript?
Simply click the button below and fill out the form.
Your submission will be evaluated by the ESSD board and then be moved into the Members Research Archive. Feel free to explain to your peers what is the key message of your article and why they should read it!
Submission Deadlines The Best Paper Award is given quarterly, based on papers published during that quarter:
- Q1 (January–March): Submission deadline 15 April
- Q2 (April–June): Submission deadline 15 July
- Q3 (July–September): Submission deadline 15 October
- Q4 (October–December): Submission deadline 15 January (of the following year)
Papers may be submitted by the authors or nominated by others.

Is my paper eligible?
To be eligible for the ESSD Best Paper Award:
- The paper must focus on a topic related to swallowing disorders.
- At least one author must be an ESSD member at the time of publication.
- The paper must be published in a peer-reviewed journal.
- The paper must be published within the quarter under review. This includes papers made available either online first or in print during the quarter in question.
Important: Eligibility is based on the date of publication (online or print), not the date of submission to ESSD.
